Contingency Planning

The IT Contingency Plan details the planning and functional contingency steps which would be executed following a major catastrophic event resulting in a major disruption to the critical information technology assets and the critical information technology installations. It includes scenarios that develop potential contingency tasks which could be executed during periods of Emergency Response, Backup Operations and Recovery Operations. The Plan includes task descriptions, team configurations and responsibilities.

We develop and maintain contingency plans per NIST Special Publication 800-34, Contingency Planning Guide for Information Technology (IT) System, June 2002. Contingency planning refers to interim measures to recover IT services following an emergency or system disruption. Interim measures may include the relocation of IT systems and operations to an alternate site, the recovery of IT functions using alternate equipment, or the performance of IT functions using manual methods.
