Security Products Integration
In the last few years a number of vendors have brought very capable and affordable security product lines and software to the market. Often the government procures security products directly from the vendor. Generally, however, the vendor's products, including hardware, software, and documentation, are not well tailored to the environment of users that typically comprise government staff. The configuration, planning, and transition to a new system then becomes a major project in itself, one that overwhelms the resources of governments' staffs. The requirement for secure operation only worsens the staffs' problems. Furthermore, vendors have consistently and historically been unenthusiastic about providing such assistance because their primary objective is to maximize quantity.
